Being a keyboard enthusiast
I have this nice night, my iPad on my lap in the bed. On both sides of my legs, my self built sofle keyboard keeps clacking away, happily inputting my thoughts at an acceptable speed into the delightful screen in front of me. I do love technology. It is one of those things that really make me feel grateful I’m living in this century, even if things to be grateful for keep reducing in amount every single day that we wake up.
Even every hour I hear of some crap about our mega corporate overlords that make me question if I should just abolish technology and live life the amish way.
But nah, I love cables too much for that, that or wireless technology. Still though I think the 2000s were the best times for it. Mass collection of data was not on the table, all companies were just focusing on giving good service to their users instead of satisfying their cash cows, I mean investors. And those investors never care about the human value, they only care about money, how much it flows and how much goes away.
Almost like it is a whole marathon for a special club that we are too poor to be allowed to join.
But alas, that much money feels like it would actually ruin me. I don’t need to go to space. I don’t need to go on a fentanyl trip. Just need enough to support my family, raise my daughter and that is pretty much it. The rest I leave to the rich people to worry about.
Been thinking about the chatting apps I use often. Started slowly phasing out Whatsapp from my life. The biggest contribution came from my wife who got convinced to use iMessage instead of relying on Whatsapp from here on, after mentioning Meta’s Kenya escapades (seriously screwed up, by the way). In an ideal world we would probably all switch to Signal and get rid of everything else but then they would probably receive a buyout offer from a rich company and get scrapped into parts.
